Br. Yusuf Mangera

Brother Yusuf Mangera was born in Malawi and raised in Zimbabwe. After arriving in the UK in 1988 he commenced work in the Mental Health field in 1990 and completed his Mental Health Nurse training at the De Montfort University in 1995. He continued to work as a registered mental Health Nurse (RMN) at the Brandon Unit at Leicester General Hospital working with acutely mentally ill patients until 1998. Thereafter he worked with the young peoples’ drug and alcohol services in Northampton for 6 years. Returning to Leicester he has been working in primary care within several GP surgeries as Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT), treating patient with depression, anxiety, phobias and trauma. He is currently completing a Diploma in Traumatology and has also commenced a course Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT).

Brother Yusuf has also volunteered extensively with Darul Arqam and has also been a scout leader since 2009. Recently he, with other volunteer leaders, established the 115th Leicester scout group based at Moat Community College of which he is now the Group scout Leader.
